Arthur Chrismas

Arthur Christmas was a Buy Brand New especially if you have children or yourself LOVE Christmas as much as we do :). It has been a long time since a good Christmas movie has come out that has been truley fun to watch. The story follows a group of unlikely heros Arthur, Grandsanta along with Bryony the elf on an adventure to deliver a gift to a child before Christmas Morning. Arthur is the clumsy son of Santa but his heart is full of Christmas Spirit, Grandsanta is all about tradition and how Christmas used to be, and Bryony is a wrapping elf who is waiting for her chance to show her skills. Grandsanta and his old Raindeer take Arthur in the original Santa Sleigh where Bryony stows away to help keep the gift wrapped properly for delivery. Refusing to use modern technology Grandsanta gets them lost all over the world where they encounter many challenges some funny and some heart warming. Over all this movie was not so long you wished it was over and not to short where you were left wanting, great story and very high in our books as a classic Chrismtas movie.

New Years Eve 2011

New Year's Eve was a buy brand new imho. From the people who brought the movie Valentines Day we were very impressed with how they took the same concept but still made it interesting. There are so many great actors in this film and are all connected in some way, this is a basic lay out of how they all connect (some over lap, but for the most part this is how it pans out). Sarah Jessica Parker>Abigail Breslin>Zach Efron>Michele Pfeiffer>Josh Duhamel>Leah Michele>Ashton Kutcher>Kathrine Heigl>Jon Bon Jovie>Hilleary Swank>Robert De Niro>Hallie Berry. New Years Eve is comprised of multiple different plot lines and stories that overlap in various ways with each other, the common denominator in all of this is they all experience life changing events on New Years Eve. Lea Michele and Jon Bon Jovie do a little singing, great acting from the entire cast; our favorite storyline was Michele Pfeiffer and Zach Efron. Their characters spent the whole movie going through Pfeiffer's undone New Years Eve Resolutions, like most of us she did not follow through on them after the new year started. It was a comedy, drama, action, chic-flick, and musical all rolled into one there was a story in there for everyone to relate too. We feel that is what makes this movie unique and worth buying, it was intricate and though out nothing in it was truly a cookie cutter Hollywood storyline.

Red State

Red State is a  buy brand new for us. It is the new Kevin Smith film, possibly his last film as a director. Smith went completely out of his normal comedy induced films to produce this thriller, not so much horror film. This movie is short, sweet and straight to the point lasting only about 88 minutes this film delivers a hefty dose of reality. Red State stars a multitude of actors who worked for near nothing to create this film. Travis (Michael Angaran), Billy-Ray (Nicholas Braun), and Randy (Ronnie Connell) are three typical high school guys in a country town who find a website that is "like Craigslist" for people who what to have sex. Sara (Melissa Leo) is the woman they choose to have sex with, she turns out to be a Christian extremist and member of the Five Points Church. Abin Cooper (Michael Parks) is the leader of the Five Points Church by being the pastor, father, and grandfather of this group of extremist/fundamentalist. All the members of the church are blood relatives or married to one of Abin's children. The movie follows how this fundamentalist group use the bible and word of G-d to kill and torture people they deem evil. Kevin Smith based the Five Points Church and its members on the Phelps family and Westboro Baptist Church. What was so interesting about this film was it is not what you expect from Kevin Smith, there is killing, gun fights, torture, and some fantastic acting sequences. The reason we chose to buy this brand new is not only the fact Kevin Smith did a great job and also did his own fundraising as well as promoting; he did it all like a true independent movie.

Your Highness

This movie was a 2 for 20 movie, it delivered in story line and comedy but there was a lot of parts in the movie that were just gross and not funny at all. Your Highness was over all funny, it made fun of all the Medieval quest movies that are out there today. James Franco, Danny McBride, Justin Theroux  Nataile Portman, and Zooey Deschanel head this film and play their roles perfectly. The story follows McBrides character, the youngest son of a king, forced to join his older brother (Franco) to save his love Belladonna (Deschanel) from the evil wizard Leezar (Theroux). During this quest they run into a warrior woman named Isabel (Portman) she dances between being their enemy and ally through out the film. There are part that will make you cringe and others that will make you cry laughing, this movie is rated a very very hard R. The best part of this movie is that it is pretty much it's own genre because its a comedy with a lot of action to it. We both agree its worth watching.

Transformers: The Dark Moon

Transformers Dark Side of the Moon was a  buy brand new. This might be because the second Transformers sucked the big one but this movie we felt really delivered on story line and action. The new additions to the cast were very well done, they gave just enough background information on them to make you invested in their stories. What we both thought was cool was how they used original footage from Presidents Nixon and Kennedy during the space race to the Moon. The writers did a great job on this one, there was a reason why they were fighting; betrayal and deaths were all part of the plot. We decided it was a buy brand new because there is a want to see it more than once and also if you were able to sit through the second Transformers the third one will reinvest you in the franchise.

Mr.Poppers Penguins

Mr. Poppers Penguins was a 2 for 20. We though it was very cute with some classic Jim Carey moments in it. The movie is 100% for kids but is entertaining enough for parents to be able to sit though it and not be tottaly bored. Jim Carey plays Mr. Popper who is a buyer of properties for a large NY Company, his dad was a traveler and never home ergo creating a man who didn't spend time with his kids. Mr. Poppers dad send him a penguin as part of his will and by accident he orders 5 more penguins to go with the one he already has. It follows Mr. Popper has he reconnects with not only his wife and kids but his father even after his death. It is a great family film, but still very cheesy and some parts were just thrown in there for length value.

Bad Teacher

Bad Teacher we thought was a 4 for 20 movie. The best part of this movie was the fact that you can see Diaz in a sexy car wash scene. Jason Segal was funny as usual but his character was not in enough of this movie to save it. This movie follows Diaz, a gold digging woman who just so happens to be a teacher. Justin Timberlake is a substitute teacher coming to fill in for the semester who just so happens to be a rich heir to a watch empire. Naturally there is another woman who Diaz is competing with, she is the teacher across the hall played by Lucy Punch. Punch and Timberlakes' characters are perfect for each other, they are completely oblivious to the world and live in this small bubble where everything is perfect. Diaz and Segal  are perfect for each other, both are sexually charged egomaniacs with no social filter. There really isn't much of anything to keep you invested in the story, you know where the story is going from the get go but nothing in the middle keeps it interesting. Bad Teacher was just a bad movie, they really tried to make a money off just the fact they had famous actors in a comedy together.
