This movie was a buy brand new, it is a classic movie that everyone should see. This movie is an adaptation from Anne Rice's novel Interview with the Vampire and a lot of the screenplay was written by her therefore the movie has a lot of the same dialouge as the book. Tom Cruise plays Lestat a vampire from pre-revolutionary France who is a total free spirit looking for a partner to share this eternal life. Brad Pitt plays Louis a rich plantation owner who has no will to live anymore, he is turned into a vampire by Lestat. The movie follows the two vampires as they go through the decades and as they slowly drift apart. Louis wants to leave so Lestat creates Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) to keep Louis with him. Claudia is a child vampire and her struggle comes later when she realizes she can never grow up and is stuck in the childs body for all eternity. Antonio Banderas plays the vampire Armand and Christian Slater is a journalist listening to Louis tell the story of his life. It is a complicated movie with lots of action and great acting on all parts and is nothing like the new vampire movies that are coming out now. There is a certain romance to the movie that goes back to Bram Stoker's Dracula. There is also a sequal/prequal to this film made a few years later called Queen of the Damned (check out that review for more information).
