Queen of the Damned
Queen of the Damned was a 4 for 20. I really wanted to love this movie because Interview with the Vampire was so good and the book Queen of the Damned was amazing. The music in this movie was really good because artist like John Davis from Korn, Chester from Linkin Park, Static X, David Draiman from Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, and Jay Gordon from Orgy all added vocals and artisitc imput. The movie stars the late Aalliyah as Queen Akasha and Stuart Townsend as Lestat. Unfortunatly Townsend had to follow Tom Cruises rendition of Lestat and that is not easy to do, so in my opinion he did not live up to the name of Lestat. Aalliyah on the other hand portrayed Queen Akasha perfect, she was just pure evil and god like. This movie tried to put two books together and make one movie, there is a lot of content in this film from The Vampire Lestat and some from Queen of the Damned; when they combined the two it was just to much for one film. Lestat in the film is a big time rock star who is calling out all vampires from hiding and begging them to try and fight him. On the way he hooks up with Akasha and also a human who has vampire upbringing and is in love with Lestat. The movie is a few flashbacks and present day and at points confusing. I feel that the saving grace to the movie was the music for one and the intrigue about the general story, you want to know what happens next and how Lestat gets out of being killed and taken over by Queen Akasha. Over all it was not worth buying as a brand new movie unless it was on sale for $5.
