The Expendables

This movie was not as great as we had expected therefore it receives a 4 for 20 rating. To start off the previews were just down right misleading for this movie! Schwartzenegger, Willis, Rourke, and Crews were barely in the movie at all!! Schwartzenegger and Willis made a max five min cameo in the movie with Stallone, but it was a big let down all they did was talk smack to each other. Seeing Rambo, Terminator, and McClane in a room together I expected less old man trash talking and more in your face I am about to punch your lights out conversation. Stallone wrote, directed, and produced the film so it seemed to us that the stars in The Expendables joined up because of that, not so much that the movie had a great story. Speaking of story lines, WHERE WAS IT?!? The Expendables had no purpose other than to blow up as much stuff as possible and kill as many people as possible. The best way to describe this is how in Rambo he would shoot and never run out of bullets; well that was this movie but they made it a point to run out every once in awhile.

On a positive note the movie had A LOT of great action in it, there was more killings and explosions in this movie than Rambo, Terminator, and Die Hard could have even imagined having. When the bad guys were getting shot up they didn't just fall over and slowly bleed out, their blood spurted out like in real life as well as if they blew up or got knifed. There was no holding back in the amount of fake blood used in this movie what so ever. Jason Statham carried this movie to the end, with out him I don't think I could have made it throughout the whole movie. His character was the only one with back ground or depth at all, he was the only one who seemed to have a home life away from the killing. Jet Li his character was not like any other he has had, yet it was the same. Li got the shit kicked out of him almost the entire movie, Stallone had to save him each time right before he was about to die. When the fights were over he always said "I could have won on my own" and every one just plays along knowing that he was going to loose. We both felt that Statham did an amazing job and needs to be recognized for his amazing abilities as an action actor and stunt man, also that Terry Crews needed more screen time he would have made the movie that much better.
